Bruce Dunn's Web Design Services

2000 – 2002

I had a business in 2000, but didn’t have the money to pay for a Web Designer. So I made the initiative to learn how to build a Web Site. I found a site on the Web called Bravenet that teaches how to build a Web Site and even hosts it, and provides Web tools.

2003 – 2004

I found a Web Host that would let me build my Web Site like I wanted it and would host it for me. This host would let me put the images and the text on my site in blocks. It was okay. However, it was difficult to impossible to put just what I wanted where I wanted it. Then they started charging me more than it was worth. First there were reasonable monthly fees then unexpected and too expensive yearly costs.

Web Design Classes
2004 – 2005

I went to Rogue Community College here in Grants Pass, Oregon for several months and learned how to build Web Sites. My classes included:

Hypertext Markup Language

This is the first and original coding language.

Extensive Hypertext Markup Language

This is an advanced version of HTML that’s compatable with using XML.

Programming language for HTML and the Web

Web Site Design

I’ve been designing Web Sites since January 2006.

Designing Web Sites is my favorite activity. Consequently, I stay up–to–date on World Wide Web coding methods, primarily on their free website: W3 Schools . I’m careful not to use deprecated tags and to use current coding methods. I validate all my work with the World Wide Web, so sites I create will continue to display and function well.

I’ve also learned and use:

The most current and advanced Hypertext Markup Language

Includes Bootstrap and W3.CSS, both are popular responsive design coding methods.

Cascading Style Sheets (This allows you to change an entire page, element or site easily.)

eXtensible Markup Language

XML is often used for distributing data over the Internet.

JQUERY is a JavaScript Library that simplifies JavaScript programming.

I am learning:

Hpertext Preprocessor Language

Asynchronous JavaScript And XML

A popular programming language used for server-side web development

Structured Query Language

SQL lets you access and manipulate databases.
